Audio from OBS recorded videos doesn't playback in media player.

Hey there, been having this issue for a while... i suspect it has something to do with the windows 11 update.

The issue i've been having is i have hundreds of OBS videos recorded and they all HAVE audio properly recorded... but when i open them in windows media player, i hear silence. When i open the same video in Quicktime, I hear the sound [it's just much more inconvenient for scrubbing]. Also, upon dragging clips into Davinci resolve, the audio is normal.

Another weird thing is i have other MP4 files from my camera that open & play sound normally in windows media player... just seems to not work only with the OBS videos.

This hasn't always been an issue, but i don't remember when it started... which is why i suspect it's something to do with windows 11.

Have tried just about every troubleshooting thing to try & resolve this & been on multiple chats with windows tech support to no avail. If anybody has an idea for a solution to this issue, i'd be happy to give it a go.

Thanks for your time.

This is a Windows issue, not OBS.
Windows media player can't read multiple tracks. You need to use a better player, like VLC.

i used to have playback with audio for OBS recorded videos in media player with no issue though?

Track 1 is the one that media player uses. If for any reason you don't record audio in it, then you have no audio. It could be another setting or issue, but the solution is using VLC player or similar.

i understand, and your right VLC is working fine. Just confused as to why it used to work but doesn't anymore. Few months ago i had the same setup where I record 1 track from microphone + 1 track from reastream to capture audio coming from my computer and it would playback just fine in media player. This would be 2 tracks of audio, any idea why it used to work but doesn't anymore?

No idea. Don't know why Microsoft do this things.
I don't use windows player at all since like forever. Early adopter of Winamp, years later found VLC, and so on. Tried other media players too.
