Audio from iPad to Zoom not playing

I am setting up a video presentation for zoom. My system is a MacBook pro m1. My microphone is an AT2020. The slideshow presentation is on an ipad pro m2. I have the iPad plugged into the MacBook via USB. I am using OBS studio using the OBS virtual camera to send the combined audio and video to zoom. The slideshow video from the iPad works, but zoom does not play the iPad audio. I have the VB virtual audio cable and have separated the iPad audio as a separate source, but is still not being heard in the zoom meeting.

How can i correct this so the zoom meeting hears the ipad audio?

TIA for any input.

I assume that VB Cable sits between OBS's Monitor and Zoom's "mic"? And that the iPad audio appears in OBS?

If those are both true, then the remaining part is the Audio Monitoring section of the Advanced Audio Properties:

Aaron, thanks so much for explaining this. There is a lot of OBS info both here and elsewhere, but sometimes it is so difficult to find a specific bit of information...you’ve done it for me!

Based on your screenshot, I have another question that I haven’t found an answer for:

What dictates when the track checkbox is disabled?

What dictates when the track checkbox is disabled?
It's always enabled for me, so I really don't know.

The best I can come up with is that it might have something to do with the mode selection in Settings -> Output.
  • Advanced mode gives you a choice of Tracks to stream and record, which allows you to have "alternative audio" that you can select on playback. Things like:
    • Different languages
    • A "minus one" mix for karaoke or other music practice
    • Descriptive audio for the visually impaired
    • Just keeping things separate to mix later in a video editor
    • Etc.
  • Simple mode is stuck on Track 1 only.
    • I did some tests on my Linux box, and it is indeed Track 1, not just the Output destination in the Audio Monitoring drop down.
    • Mac *might* be different there? So maybe Simple mode does tap off before the Track selection and can therefore disable it?
I really don't know. Sorry!
