Question / Help Audio Echo when streaming

Something's been bothering me. Whenever I stream, whatever I happen to be streaming, whether on my computer or on my console (capture card), the audio always echos. This only happens when I am streaming. If I record the gameplay instead, it's just fine. Also my microphone isn't affected. At first I thought maybe my mic was picking up audio from my headphones, since my mic is attached to the headset and it isn't the best mic in the world, but the reason I know this isn't the case is because it still happens when my mic is completely turned off. What could be causing this/is there anything I can do to fix it?

Check in the mixer (Edit > Advanced Audio Properties) what sources are set to monitor as well as output. Check to make sure you don't have monitoring on for a device that doesn't need it.

and check what audio device is set to be your monitor (it's in Edit > Settings in v23.1, in Settings > Advanced on older version). Make sure you're not sending your monitor output to a device you're capturing.
