Audio echo and crackling

Hello,

Facing two issues.
Setup: Using headphones with mic on mute.

#1 Screen recording: As mentioned, the mic is muted but OBS studio includes crackling sound in the audio when doing full screen recording of any type. This requires removing the audio track in video editing.

Where is the crackling audio coming from?

#2 Streaming: When streaming games to YouTube, the audio has a bathroom or head-in-bucket echo. Google top result shows "OBS audio echoing is usually caused by duplicate audio sources or feedback loops ... the key is isolating and disabling the source that's capturing the same sound twice." There is only one source, the game. Again, the mic is muted.

Why does the streamed video have echo in the audio?

Headphones and mic are both going directly into the motherboard. There is no intervening device.

For both the above issues, I have tried everything that Google has to offer.

It's possible to create a feedback loop without a mic. In case you're playing back your stream while streaming for monitoring purposes, and you play back the stream's audio on your desktop audio device, and you capture the desktop audio within OBS for your stream, that's the feedback loop since what OBS captures from the desktop audio device also contains the stream audio it just recorded a moment ago.

Hello,

I am not playing back the stream. All applications are closed except the game in full screen and OBS streaming in the background.

Do you mean the audio I am hearing and the streamed audio are two different channels being overlapped? That makes no sense. How am I supposed to play a game without audio.

Any idea about the crackling sound when doing screen capture on mute for tutorials, etc.?
