Hi,
I noticed audio dropouts in my local recordings using the default encoding settings in OBS 17.0.0 and at least 3 releases back.
I'm recording the audio from the "What U Hear" device on my creative x-fi card, on windows 10 version 1607 14393.576
(On this image the audacity wave's polarity is inverted because it was easier to align it to the other wave this way)
Using FL studio I've aligned the exported audio from the recorded .flv with another recording that I made simultaneously with audacity. In the OBS recording -starting at 21:26- there's a ~70 ms pause and then the music seems to pick up where it left off. With this comparison I wanted to rule out problems in the source.
(I used audacity because it also records with WASAPI)
During this test I also put Latencymon on the screen to rule out spikes:
Also I didn't have any antivirus solutions installed.
Because nothing worked, I instead figured out a way to reproduce this as quickly as possible:

In the very end I realised that I could try obs classic and it looks like there aren't any audio issues there, but I can't tell you if this is a new issue in OBS studio because I just started using it recently, so it never really worked for me.
Thanks for reading all of this, I'd appreciate any help!
Cheers!

Because nothing worked, I instead figured out a way to reproduce this as quickly as possible:
- reset OBS to default settings
- configure your sound source
- record for at least 25 minutes
- export the audio with ffmpeg to a wav file
- examine the wave file with a sample editor, find the gap
