Audio Dropout when Removing Headphones

Hello,

I am running OBS on a current laptop and noticed some troubling behavior around inserting and removing headphones when running OBS.

When I insert headphones in to the computer, the internal sound device changes to a second version. It is listed as "Realtec 2" or something like that. It is the computer's way to change the output away from the internal speakers. Well, often when I take out the headphones, OBS will lose its audio monitoring. I can get it back by toggling monitoring off and back on.

Does anybody else see this behavior and is there a way to avoid it? Thanks!

Thank you. So you are setting up an environment where OBS does not interact with the computer's sound device (Realtek #1 and Realtek #2 - headphones). You are having Voice meter interact with the computer sound card and give a constant feed to OBS. Correct?

Hello,

I have tried Voicemeter and sadly, the exact same behavior appears when I plug in headphones. The internal sound device changes to "Realtek 2" and this confuses Voicemeter as it is set to "Realtek 1". The program locks up and I have to close and reopen to get the functionality back.

I have no idea why this is designed this way or how to fix it. I have e-mailed Reatek but who knows if they will have anything to add.

Thanks and there has to be more OBS laptop users that have come across this issue?
