Question / Help Audio doubled or not there

Hi guys.

I assume that I'm missing something obvious, since this is the first time I ever used a recording software of any kind. I tried to find some guides, but they use a technical lingo I don't fully understand (it doesn't help that English is not my first language either).

Basically, I need to record a 5-minute long video speech for an exam, but I have sound problems. The recordings either double the sound, so I have the echo effect, or, when I try to mute one audio slider or more, become completely muted. The vast majority of guides out there seem to be for streaming I have a hard time applying them to my situation. The videos I've seen on YT also use a different interface, which just adds to confusion.

Like I said at the beginning, I feel like I'm overlooking some basic 'tick-box', but I have no idea what I'm doing, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Please post a log with your issue! Here's how... right after you click Stop Recording button.

OBS Studio has Mixer pane (list). If you start OBS Studio first time - there are default sources in the list (two sources usually) - this is audio sources for input sound (usually microphone) and output sound (usually desktop audio - any sound that playbacks by you PC through the speakers).

This depends on the way you got it.
  • If you have two same audio sources in the current Scene, then you need to delete/disable doubles.
  • If you have laptop and you see at Windows>Recording devices>Properties>Enhancements or Windows>Playback devices>Properties>Enhancements any enabled effects - try to disable them.
  • If you hear echo while recording - make sure that your Audio Monitoring is OFF (OBS Studio main menu Edit>Advanced Audio Properties).
