Attempt to record is just problematic

I've been trying to figure this out for months and I've just got no clue why my recordings look so laggy and out of wack. Might be a long shot but if anyone can help me, that would be greatly appreciated.

Change your recording rate control to CQP
CQP level to 17
encoder preset to p1

What's wrong with saving to mp4? It's what I use. If that's bad, what do you recommend?

mkv is better. MP4 is extremely unreliable, and fragmented MP4 has player and editor compatibility issues that mean that a remuxed mkv has the same impact on workflows.

I know you replied to this forever ago and I really appreciate it, changed it to these settings and honestly saw no difference
