Question / Help Aspect ratio

Hi there!

I`m new at this...and on monday I´m broadcasting my first event...but I have som problems...

I have a Roland VR-50HD videomixer connected to my MacBook Pro.
When I open OBS there´s a lot of black thick borders around the monitor...
I have to stretch out the picture to fit but I see that I loose quality...

I´m sending with 720p and the settings in OBS are 1280x720...
What can I do so that OBS fits the picture perfect without any quality loss?

Thanx.

Hey Oliver! Glad to see someone else using OBS other than just gamers(I use OBS to livestream Football Games). Post a screenshot of what the video looks like.

Hi Rob!
I solved the issue...hade the Roland on 480p output instead of 720p...amateur I know...but I'm learning. :)

We just finnished our broadcast and it was okay exept for two things.
1. Issue with the synk, audio-video. Muted my XLR-input from the radiostation that also sends the event, and took the audio from one of my CAM-microfons.
Kind of solved that for now, have to look for better solution untill next time.

2. OBS froze a couple of times...approx after 90 min...
I had to unplug my USB connection between my Roland mixer and MacBook PRO and replug to have videofeed again. But that resulted in black for a couple of seconds in the streaming...
Why did it do that you think?
And how can I fix it?

Here's the event ondemand:

Approx 1h 48min in you can se an exempel of the freezing.

Thanx for your time and advise!

Hey Oliver,

I've used both the VR-50HD and OBS for live-streaming before.

Were you doing a live-stream to YouTube + saving it; or were you just using OBS to save it to your computer?

Hi there.

Yes, livestream to youtube via an external site that se use.
And I think that we recordet the event aswell.
It was a while ago...
After that I bought av streaming device that I use today.

But it would be nice to have OBS as a backup...

I've had this exact same problem! If I am sending 720p+ signal to OBS the video feed stalls out after a short time. If I send a 480p signal it works.

Anybody know what is causing the issue? Is it a problem with the Roland VR-50?

Downgrading your quality should not be a solution, just a temporary fix. A real solution is to figure out why the VR-50 is failing to do what it is suppose to do.
