I just want to record videos, but I cannot do anything with this software. I don't know why and I will try anything at this point. It isn't a black screen or anything, but nothing really works, I will answer any questions and I'm not sure what to include here, so if anyone can help me ask anything and I'll respond. the video below should be fluid but is not. Thank you to anyone who can help!

Actually, the video won't upload so imagine a video stopping 3 times and freezing for 20 seconds

for high bitrate local recordings x264 really falls behind. You have a 980ti so you really should be using NVENC.

I'd recommend VBR of around 60000 for 1080p60

These are the full settings I use which work great.

YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER THANK YOU SO MUCH
Also, nice videos pretty cool stuff, definitely watching more XD
But is 60,000 bit rate really necessary?

Depends on the resolution you are recording at and the fps you want.

Using shadowplay, 80,000 just about delivers a good picture at 1440p 60fps.

My advice to you would be to use nvenc in obs, and use CQP for the rate control. go for 18-23 quality (you will need to experiment) betwwen performance in-game, frame drops in the recording, recording quality and file size.
22 is perfect for me at 1440p 60fps.
B frames at 0
2 pass off.
Quality high.

60,000 bitrate isn't necessary but NVENC gives terrible compression so for high quality I'd recommend it.

I also have a tutorial for CQP which DamageInc recommended. It's good but generally gives a larger file size, and sites like youtube ruin a lot of the quality.

I would recommend testing both and seeing which you like better.

I recorded a video on csgo with, I believe, 10,000 bitrate and it was a little bit laggy, if I had put it to 60,000 would that not have been a problem?

The bitrate shouldn't affect if its laggy or not.

Shadowplay might be better, I find it records smoother but doesn't have as many features as obs. Test that.

Try updating your graphics drivers.

You can also try setting your keyframe interval to 2, that might help.

Enabling V-Sync in game might help.

Also I would appreciate if you could upload a new log if you are still getting a bit of stuttering.
