Are my System Requirements good for Recording in OBS

Having trouble dropping frames and skipping while trying to do Youtube reaction videos in Record mode.

System Reqiirements:

Laptop
32-bit
1020 x 1080
CPU 2.6 GHz
8mb Ram
Quad Intel i5 (2540 M) CPU
Intel Graphics 3000

I'm watching and reacting to a Youtube video in Record mode.

Seems OK but on 'playback' it is very glitchy, stalls, skips, lag etc.

I've done a lot to modify settings and no luck. Wondering if my laptop and/or Modem strength may not be good enough. Or, maybe just not doing my settings right. There are a variety of opinions on this so...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your processor is 64 bit. Make sure you have 64 bit Windows or you'll be limited to to 4 GB of RAM. Use Quick Sync Video (QSV) as the encoder. If still having issues then

1. Using Windows Update, update Windows 10 the newest available version per https://obsproject.com/blog/five-simple-tips-for-new-streamers
2. At least one of your audio devices has a sample rate that doesn't match the rest. This can result in audio drift over time or sound distortion. Check your audio devices in Windows settings (both Playback and Recording) and ensure the Default Format (under Advanced) is consistent. 48000 Hz is recommended.
OBS Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
Microphone (AmazonBasics Desktop Mini Mic): 44100 Hz
Speakers (2- High Definition Audio Device): 48000 Hz
3. Run OBS as admin
4. Having the YUV Color range set to "Full" will cause playback issues in certain browsers and on various video platforms. Shadows, highlights and color will look off. In OBS, go to "Settings -> Advanced" and set "YUV Color Range" back to "Partial".
5. Use Quick Sync Video (QSV) as the encoder with the following settings: Target Usage: Quality, Profile: High, B and I frames: 2.

Looking over some of the suggestions...I moved my Record to MKV, moved my OBS to run as Administrator, Lowered my Resolution to 720p, lowered my FPS to 30 and changed my encoder setting down to 'very fast.'

Seemed to be a bit better with a standard screen recording, then pulled up a YouTube video to play and then Recorded talking during it and it froze up in about 2 seconds.

Then I got this report log:

Is there more I can do in my Setting or are my system requirements never going to work here?

Thx much!

My profile is already set to 'High' and my frames to '2'

Only encoder option I'm seeing is x264, no QSV is visible to choose as far as I can see.

You may have to change something in your BIOS, see

Wow, great information. I'll get on it and report back.

If I may ask a quick question. Let's say, I don't want to sacrifice video quality and other quality so I have a good upload and create a good Youtube channel. Would these fixes, if they work, not sacrifice any of that? In other words, do I still need a better computer with a stronger processor to maintain high level quality or is this just a quick fix, but a sacrifice of quality.

Thanks again for everything.

Looks like when I gi to the Intel Driver and Support Assistant, it scans my system and tells me 'No supported driver or software updates are avaioable for your system.'

I'm using the Dell Latitude E6520. It's refurbished but it's fairly new I believe.

Yeah. It doesn't. Should have paid more attention to my needs.

Some changes helped but think I need to get something upgraded. May see if I can upgrade the CPU and graphics card. Read a few places I may be able to.

Thx for all the suggestions.

I might be mistaken, but as I see, you need 64-bit system. If you can do it, reinstall Windows choosing another OS version. If not, find better the computer master. Privately working specialists sometimes do the better job than Computer centers services.
