I'm putting together a two-computer solution for recording VR gameplay and right now I am using OBS to output from OpenVR to my Mini Monitor 4K. The card supports 10 bit, but as far as I know, OBS only uses 8 bit internally.
While that may be true for encoding and streaming, is that also true for a video feed that is routed from OpenVR to a Blackmagic output device?
My main concern is whether I can record the output using a 10-bit codec (which I'm struggling to do) or if an 8-bit codec will suffice (which is less desirable but acceptable).
Thanks!
