Any cam/webcam gives me a black screen

I can't for the life of it get my Apple Monitors built-in webcam, my Macbook Pro's built-in webcam or a connected Sony camera to come through.

have all the permissions enabled in System settings. All above camera also come through perfectly fine in Photobooth or Microsoft Teams. What am I doing wrong? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing OBS without luck.

I've attached a bunch of screenshots below for context – apologies that they are in Danish (I hope you can make sense of them anyway).

What am I missing?

I don't know about Mac, but I do know that Windows (still!) gives exclusive access to video sources. Originally, that was for performance reasons, but today's machines are easily capable of handling that. But it was never changed.

If Mac is the same way, then you might have to completely close everything else that might want the camera, and then reconfigure that source in OBS. Simply closing the window might not be enough, as one of my recent experiences showed. Actually close the app(s) *completely*.

Then as a test, once you get it in OBS, see if the other apps suddenly have the same problem while OBS is running.

Hello Aaron!
Thanks for your suggestion. I've had the same suspicion. I tried closing down every app I could but OBS, yet the problem persists.
I also tried retrieving information about whether the camera is being used from Macs Terminal (like Windows Terminal/Command Prompt) using the command lsof | grep "AppleCamera", but it returns nothing. So it doesn't seem as if the stream is being blocked by another program – at least not as far as I can see.
