Analogue video to Digital

This is going to sound really stupid. I have some movies on th mini DV format which I want to transfer to my PC. I am using the Ezcap device connected to the S video out on my old Panasonic vidcam and calling up the OBS software (as recommended by the hardware supplier). However, I can't get the programme to recognise the devices. The software is very complex - much too complex for my needs - so if anyone can guide me through the various settings I'd be most grateful.

OBS is a multi purpose capturing/recording/streaming app with many more features than just capture from a capture device and write this to a video file, so if it's too complex for you, I recommend you find something more simple.
