Thanks PaiSand,

I've tried swapping GPUs in Windows Graphics Settings and unticking 'Enable Browser Source Hardware acceleration' but nil fix.

I raised IT case to request upgrade from Windows 10 version 20H2, apparently its out-of-service since 10/5/22. bleepingcomputer.com article regarding Windows 10 version 20H2 out of service.

Browser Source Hardware Acceleration must be always on.
For the GPU, follow the guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Laptop-Troubleshooting

Please read carefully the results of the Analizer. Once you have all the suggestions/recommendations aplied please do a new test as before.

  1. I have reticked Enable Browser Source Hardware acceleration' but nil fix.
  2. My IT department has no timelnes for upgrade to 21H2, nor will they support OBS studio so it looks like I'll need to continue troubleshooting myself.
  3. FYI - My Device Manager shows 2 Display adapters
    1. Citrix Indirect Display Adapter
    2. Intel (R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics
  4. I'm not sure if 3.1 Citrix Indirect Display Adapter was installed on my old windows 7 laptop, I can check Monday.
  5. I tried testing as If I was on a single GPU system, it says automatic will work (using DXGI method), but nil fix.
  6. After switching GPUs I still seem to have the critical error.
  7. In attached photo I can see that the graphics preference for my computer does not list Citrix Indirect Display Adapter, only Intel (R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics.
Would I be correct that in fact my laptop has a single GPU, with Citrix acting as some sort of 'virtual' GPU. Perhaps this is causing some confusion for OBS.
