So, I'm running the latest version of OBS Studio, and everything works fine when recording with x264. I record at 1080p 30fps.
Using Plays.TV, I have absolutely no issues with recording via my GPU. Plays.tv doesn't have multichannel recording, however, and because the recording pauses any time you alt tab out of the game, recording the audio using another program and syncing it up becomes a nightmare. I don't have any issues, however, with performance while recording at 1080p 30fps 50,000kbps with this program.
So, OBS is my only real option. Using x264, I don't get much of an FPS drop (if any) in cpu light games (for example, DayZ, being single threaded, has pretty no performance hit using x264 recording), but it can be a bit of a problem with some games.
My issue is that when I switch to AMD VCE, it's pretty much completely broken. I can literally completely reset the settings (new profile), switch to advanced, VCE and MP4 in the recording tab and it'll lag like crazy. No matter what I do, the quality is either completely awful, or the video lags (and often both). Also, when 'Low Latency' mode is enabled, the program completely crashes on stopping recording.
My specs are:
Windows 10 Pro
AMD FX 8350 @4.7 - 5GHz (switch it depending on the temperature)
AMD R9 390 Nitro
16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600mHz
7200RPM 2TB Drive that I record to
Windows on SSD
Games on separate SSD
I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing at all, or any kind of solution, because I really need to be able to use VCE.
The log file shows me recording with very low settings on VCE, then switching on Frame Reordering/Low latency to show the crash, too. File it tries to write doesn't exist.
