Question / Help AMD Threadripper 1950X high encoding low cpu usage

I'm running a 1950x with a 1080 and an El Gato HD60 Pro.
When I stream 1080p 60FPS on Medium or even Faster I get high encoding and even though it says that on OBS the signal remains a smooth 60fps. Then I look at the stream and its a slideshow. Here is the log. I don't know how this is happening or how its possible. Thank you all for taking the time out to read this.

1. Turn off game DVR
How to turn off Xbox DVR through the Registry Editor
If you do not have an Xbox account and are not signed into the Xbox App you can disable Xbox DVR by using the Registry Editor.

Note: This process is more advanced and is not recommended for novice users.

1. Open Registry Editor (Run > regedit)
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore
3. Set the value of DWORD "GameDVR_Enabled" to 0
4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\
5. Create key "GameDVR".
6. Create DWORD 32bit called "AllowGameDVR" and set to 0
7. Restart your computer.

2. Disable Preview can improve performance
3. Change profile to high instead of main and use x264 custom option: threads=x
x can equal whatever you want as long as it is above 12 for best experience I have gotten great results with 1950x Threadripper using threads=22 but can lower if game requires more threads.

5. Overclock CPU (most 1950x threadrippers should hit 3.9-4.0GHz with sufficient cooler @ around 1.35v
6. Fast RAM has shown to improve overall performance on Ryzen processors (3600MHz+ RAM will give best results from my experimenting) CL doesn't matter so much on Ryzen architecture due to the infinity fabric

Here's my 1950x computer benchmark in term of performance if you can get near you shouldn't have a problem with 1080p60 @ slow preset with 6000bitrate as it isn't a problem for my computer to achieve the results you want.

Thank you for the response awol, I currently tried everything you said besides the ram since I don't have fast ram available. I got it to a stable 4ghz overclock. And I'm still having the same issues after removing game dvr and changing the threads. I don't understand how this processor can have a problem. I'm starting OBS has a bottle neck somewhere

are you looking at the stream from the same computer thats doing the encoding or are you using a different computer and it appears to look like a slide show? the reason why i'm asking is sometimes if your computer is high CPU usage can cause not much CPU available for viewing your own stream and if you're using chrome browser you may want to go into advanced options and change your video decoder from hardware to software encoding or vise versa.

also, make sure you're not thermal throttling. i had a lot of problems at first when i got my 1950x setup. I was using corsair h100i v2 and it just couldn't keep it cool during streaming+gaming. Threadripper throttles on tdie temp so be sure to use Ryzen Master or HWInfo64 at look at the tdie temp as these are the only 2 programs that I've found that give tdie temp. If tdie temp reaches close to 68 degrees then you are thermal throttling. I solved this by upgrading to a Enermax 360mm radiator with full IHS coverage.

I'm using the pc for streaming only. So all it is doing is transmitting for the capture card. I'm using another laptop to watch the stream. And as far as cooling it's on a custom loop running at 23 celsius idle. 34 degrees on load. But now since you sent me that benchmark. My ram isn't going all the way. It's performing horribly. Here is my bench.

Are those temps at tdie? If not then they really don't mean anything but its okay, i did the same mistake as did a bunch of reviewers on youtube when they started doing threadripper reviews. ram is definitely the bottleneck on your system as the processor runs at memory frequency so you want the fastest memory you can get your hands on 3600mhz is currently the fastest motherboards support for now until bios update maybe later on to support 4000+ memory.

G.Skill TridentZ CL17 3600MHz you can get either RGB or non RGB flavor should work to. I believe the timings are 17-18-18-38 the CL16 version will work too I believe the timings are 16-17-17-36

NP! Also, make sure you get 4 sticks to run memory at quad channel, dual channel will give worst performance.

That's the same kit I have, make sure you install them in quad channel and verify in CPU-Z that they are running in quad channel. I feel bad you had to pay such high price for them though. I got them for $379.00 =( Damn ram prices are outrageous right now

if you have problems with them working i will need to know what motherboard you're running and the bios version. I'm running the aorus gaming 7 w/ latest bios.

it looks like the asus motherboard likes tighter timings on the g.skill ram. maybe try manually changing the timing to 15-15-15-35
