Question / Help AMD atikmdag.sys BSOD when game switches to Vulkan

I am attempting to broadcast Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus to Mixer.com using FTL, with an AMD RX 480 using hardware video encoding, and as soon as the game would have switched to Vulkan rendering at the menu, my system bluescreened.

This is an AMD driver problem, you'll need to report it to them.

I have a second report on the same issue, but different result. Switching from KVM-Qemu VM to bare metal Windows 10, the result is different. It now locks up the driver context, and dumps this crash:

Failed to recreate D3D11: Failed to duplicate output (80070005)

The last bug itself is resolved in updates to OBS Studio code, but probably be available public only in the next build of the application. This only means that OBS Studio will survive when video driver crash (application highly depends on video) and this last error ensures that your video driver just crashed. So, keep your video drivers up to date.

I already was running the latest WHQL release, 17.11.1. Perhaps I should have been running the latest non-WHQL release?

I've already considered attempting a different streaming setup: Getting Steam In-Home Streaming working with this title, then using OBS Studio on the IHS client machine to re-capture and stream the game.
