Question / Help All I want to do is disable layered windows...

I've got all my settings perfect on my PC at home; I was able to capture the desktop and crop it around my Pandora gadget (yeah I still use gadgets, sue me.) But I'm out of town and I'm a) finding it impossible to view a window capture WITHOUT layered windows, including OBS, and b) I can no longer capture the desktop (with gadgets on; they don't appear) and also without layered windows atop it.

I see no options to isolate a window as a source. The only option that allows the capture source to appear while minimized AND without displaying windows atop it is Browser Source but I ... don't know if that source can be used to capture an open program. Maybe I'm just missing something but my brain is fried and I cannot for the life of me find anything helpful. So I'm asking here. Do I have a bad version? I'm using OBS Studio + Browser Source 0.14.2 -- OBS Classic doesn't display or stream anything due to the limitations of my laptop (for some reason.) It brings up the DirectX 10 error (even though I have DirectX 11 installed and functional.)

So if anyone can help me set this up in a way that won't constantly have open windows also displayed over any given source, that would be amazing. I'm stuck in a hospital for at least the next month or so because of a sick family member, and "the show must go on" so they say. I need to get back to work. I gotta start streaming my art again. Answering questions, etc.

Thanks.

Software version doesn't matter when there's hardware factors to consider as well.

As for your main issue, in order to do layered windows, you need either windows 8+ or you need to enable aero.
If you're dealing with monitor/display capture on the same system you're basically stuck. In short, the gadgets need to go.
