after defining area of screen to record, how to actually output the recording without black borders?

Hi all very new to OBS and in general recording :)

I am creating some class room videos and have a ultra wide screen so im trying to only capture a part of the screen

this works well yet when I see the output video I also get the surrounding black areas. I assume I a doing something wrong but can any one guide me on how to only output the selected area (in the middle bounded by green) without the back borders in the final video?

much appreciated!

Don't forget to also change the output resolution accordingly, not only the base (canvas) resolution. If you're creating video for public consumption, both resolutions should be the same and have aspect ratio 16:9, such as 1920x1080, because 16:9 monitors is what 98% of your audience will have at home.
And if you're creating videos that will contain instructional text, make sure the text is large enough and still readable even scaled down on smaller resolutions, or if your videos are consumed in a windowed player.
