I am running windows 7. I have had no problems with OBS until the last fix update. I output my recordings in .mp4 format...however, they have no sound now. after checking all of my settings, I decided to change the format to mkv, mov, and got my sound!. Anyone else experience this? I reloaded version 22.0 just to see if it would fix this, but it didnt. Something got changed with the encoder I assume. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem. The audio output of my mic does exist in both my streams and my recordings, but the volume is very low even when I set the volume in the mixer to 26 dB. I have to crank up the volume setting in Windows 10 to 100 just to barely hear myself. The desktop audio works fine. The volume of my mic was also set to its maximum.
I opened both the .mkv and .mp4 file types of the same recording in Shotcut and Windows media player, and both file formats have the same problem in both software.
I tried the x264 encoder and the H264/AVC encoder, and both give the same results.
Remuxing doesn't change anything either. If the audio problem is happening in both Windows 10 and Windows 7, then it might be an issue with Windows in general. I also reinstalled version 23.2.1 and had the same problems.

Update on the mic audio issue with OBS; turns out I just had to plug the mic into the USB port next to the one I originally had the mic plugged into.
It was an issue with my hardware and my stupidity, not the OBS software.

I understand...Im happy with .mkv...I will just convert to mp4 afterwards...file size uploads to consider of course. Thanks for the tip!you never should record to mp4 because file corruption
I tried that with all with all of my ports to no avail.
