Adding video timer to my stream

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping I'm posting this in the right thread. I work for a non-profit and during the pandemic, we have transitioned a lot of our work to virtual streaming. If we are showing videos within OBS, is there a way to have OBS indicate the time of the video that we are at? It makes it difficult to know when the end of the video is nearing if we do not have audio on. Is there a way for us to view how much longer the video has before ending so we are able to transition scenes smoothly and have our hosts on the other end ready?

Thanks for any support you may be able to provide.

There is not within OBS, as far as I am aware. How I handle it is that I have my video sources set to 'show nothing when not playing' and place a static splash image behind it, so when the video ends it disappears, showing the static splash, then I transition from there.

You might also be able to Window Capture a VLC instance, crop the capture down to only the player window, then keep an eye on the video transport/info controls there.

That is a great suggestion - thank you!
