Adding a local file source - crashes repeatedly when i try to browse - help please!

Hi. every time i try to add a source from a local drive on my PC, my laptop crashes en route to the main directory. I'm using Windows 10. Used to happen occasionally which i could stop by restarting my laptop. Now happens all the time making obs unuseable. Can anyone help please?
