Add physical input during stream

I have found that if we start a live stream and then realize an audio or video input needs to be plugged into the pc, the PC recognizes it but OBS does not until you close OBS, which kills our stream, and reopen it. Is there a way around this?

try going into properties and selecting the device again, I've been able to plug stuff in while live before and add it to obs
