About Video Capture

I'm currently using a video capture from a product sold by Amazon, but for some reason I can't record video from old game hardware that can be shot through OBS with the number of HD pixels, even though the maximum recording capacity is 1920×1080. I installed various sides and restarted the PC, but it did not improve. Why is the OBS feature a barrier to Full HD video recording when it comes to game external video capture? Tell me.

It would help if you tell what "game hardware" you intend to capture, which resolutions it support and what device you use to capture. As well as screenshots of the corresponding configuration windows where the resolution is specified.

Keep in mind that if your gaming device outputs something older resolution such as 640x480, this will not magically show up as 1920x1080 in OBS - it will show up as 640x480, and you should capture and create a video with exactly that resolution.

Thank you for your reply.

The PC I'm currently using is a computer made by Chinese people called GM1Ktec. I think the maximum output resolution for this computer is 4K to full HD. At first, I was able to record full HD videos on OBS. External video capture is compatible with full HD and can actually be used, and even now it is set to full HD in the settings in the upper left corner, but the image capture can only be set to 640x the pixel count. This was the case with OBS version 29 and above, which was the version before the OBS update in August this year. Could this be because I updated the custom driver for my computer to the latest Intel driver? If so, the graphics driver for this computer will have inferior capabilities unless you are very conscious of OBS. This is one of the possible causes. Are there any other solutions?

Please read my post again. I didn't ask what computer you're currently using with OBS, I'm asking what kind of "game hardware" (quote from your first post) it is that you're trying to capture, and what resolution this device gives as output.

This resolution is what your capture device is capturing, and this resolution is what you should set in OBS in Settings > Video as canvas resolution and as output resolution. If this device does output 640x480, set everything to 640x480, and you will create a video with that resolution and without black bars. By choosing every resolution the same, you're creating a video that represents 1:1 what is shown on the original device, which yields the best possible quality.

Scaling to Full HD is done by the media player while you play this video.

Thank you. The problem has been solved. It seems that the problem this time was with the input processing. Specifically, it is possible that the problem was caused by adding an old used USB hub, which caused a problem with the function of the hub device to read the transmission power, etc. When I actually connected the USB directly, it reverted to the full HD setting. Thank you.
