Ability to save all settings, windows/dock positions?

Hi, been using OBS (Windows) in a church setting for about 8 months now. I love the power, flexibility, options, and user support this product offers.

However, I would love the ability to be able to save all settings and window positions, (scenes, sources, audio mixer docked locations), etc...

I know I can save the Profile, and save the Scenes, but I continue to run into problems.

On a regular basis, OBS loses track of my audio input source (comes in via USB).

On a less regular basis, OBS loses track of my audio output setting (Monitor and Output)

On a less regular basis, OBS loses track of what is displayed and where things are docked. This past week the "Sources" section went missing!

Is there a way to "save everything", so that it's easy for people using the system to restore everything to a known good state?

Thanks!

If you have USB audio sources, you have to plug them into exactly the same USB jack every time.
If you change the jack where the USB source is plugged in, OBS will recognize the device as different device and not the device it was configured in the first place. The source of a moved device then appears as "[Device not connected or not available]". Plug the device back into the jack where it was before and the source will be detected again.

If you set a captured audio device to "disabled", then back to the device you intend to capture, its advanced audio properties are reset.

You can lock the layout and appearance of the docks with Docks->Lock Docks.

Instruct other users not to change settings in OBS without asking/telling you.

Thank you koala for your detailed reply. I will definitely be looking at that "Docks->Lock Docks" setting.

The USB input jack didn't change, but there was a Windows update this past week, so maybe that had something to do with it. The tip about the audio device being "disabled" is interesting, and something I didn't know.

I will also be double-checking that the OBS folder is being backed up.

Thanks again!

There seems to be no way to lock the actual dock sizes. I set the sizes, turned off and on lock docks (just to be sure) stop and restart and they are smashed to the left side.

I'm finding this to be very frustrating. My dock sizes change every time I open OBS, even though I have Docks > Lock Docks turned on.
