Question / Help A Howdy! And a question - 2 HDMI sources, a laptop and streaming

Hi all from a lurker turned question asker...

Trying to figure out a solution to our problem, we need a fairly portable, fairly cheap, good quality (I know, pick one), livestreaming solution.

We have an i7 Lenovo laptop (which will be used for OBS), an HDMI out video camera and an HDMI out presentation laptop. I need to figure out a USB 3 solution for those two inputs. The presentation laptop will output to an HDMI splitter for the projector and the OBS laptop, and the other input is the video camera capturing the presenter. We are a poorly funded government department and I need to put this together... Any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks, Eric.

Actually it'd be a "pick 2" of your three. And fairly cheap would be the least likely of the three to be kept.

And your definition of "fairly portable" may be different from mine because I consider a desktop system re-cased into a DJ travel rack to be "Fairly Portable". (4u travel racks are a decent size. Find a way to carry a 24" tv to the venue and you're set there)

You'd need either multiple capture cards (ideally of a brand and model that is capable of having multiple connected to the system at a time) or a single capture card with multiple inputs on it.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately we have no desktops so cards are out of the question. Could I use two USB devices, such as the Elgato HD60? Just trying to figure out how to be able to switch between the camera feed and the powerpoint/presenter feed.

No elgato USB device supports having multiple on a single computer.
You'd need to look at another brand like blackmagic design, startech or magewell.
