A couple of suggestions

Having used other screen recorders, two very useful functions appear to be missing from OBS. Apparently, they have been requested a number of times - or, perhaps I am missing something in setting up OBS. The two functions are: an elapsed time counter during record, and two, a countdown timer - 3, 2, 1 - at the beginning of doing a record. This gives a person time to face the camera or whatever preliminary actions might be needed.

Interesting clip - thank you. However, the type of countdown I am talking about is where I click the record button, and OBS shows a countdown, say starting at 3, before recording actually begins. The elapsed time counter I am speaking about is shown during the recording process, so I know how much video (time-wise) has been recorded so far. For example, I make math tutorial videos, and I don't like any of them to run over 10 minutes. I could use a stop watch, but most screen recorders have it built in.

Countdown time at least is built in, I think the other too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx9ZTBfSP18

Elapsed time issue is not an issue; just leave OSB Studio open instead of minimizing to sys tray or taskbar. It has the elapsed time at the bottom of its window.
