Hi,

Can you tell me what's the difference between C615 and C920 in terms of CPU usage please?

For example, using my DSLR Canon with their native app and Windows Capture in OBS I am getting a crazy amount of 40-60% CPU usage. Same camera with 3rd party applciation (I forgot the name) - about 20-30% CPU usage, and wireless connection between laptop and iPhone with EpcoCam and their software + Window Capture - only 10% CPU load which is great.

I am wondering if I can achieve the same (10% or below) with Logitech C920 or C615 while streaming? C920 has build in encoder, which means it should take any work off the CPU, so in theory minimal CPU usage right? I will be streaming my camera in 720p at max res.

Thanks!

Hi,

I've done some comparisons for cpu usage on my YT channel will pm you the link if you want to see but as a summary it was between the c920 and c922 and the C920 did seem to use minimal cpu on the 5820k OC to 4.4ghz.

Hi, thanks for the reply,

I've seen your video, and it looks like both camera were using about 17-20% CPU while recording 720p. Can you confirm if the CPU usage was calculated for one camera or when they both were running together?

Hi Beardedbob, or anyone else with web cam

Will you be able to do me a favour please?

Could you open OBS with empty scene, check your CPU usage, and after that plug in your webcam, add source to OBS as 720p (resize to to use as face cam in the corner) and check the CPU usage once again please?

- CPU usage without camera in OBS
- CPU usage with camera in OBS

Thanks

Hi,

You also need to add in the cpu needed to run obs etc, if you look the cpu when I remove the 920 or 922 its drops only by about 3%.

Thanks mate!

FYI for anyone who will be looking for a similar comparison i the future - I bought Logitech C920 this morning and it's working great. Only about 4-8% CPU usage on my shitty laptop (720p)

Np, the lower the res you use on the webcam say for streaming the lower cpu it will take also but with less quality.
