60 second long frame rate lag

Hi guys, I've been successfully using OBS for about 6 months. Yesterday I tried recording a video but I experienced massive lag right from the start. For example, the OBS preview screen showed a massive 60 second lag between the time I go in front of the camera and when I appear in the 'preview box' in OBS. In kept doing that for the whole video.

The program says my video uses around 25% CPU if that helps.

I haven't altered any of the settings.

Any ideas on what could be causing the lag?

0. If available, update your Windows 10 per https://obsproject.com/blog/five-simple-tips-for-new-streamers
1. Run OBS as Admin
2. The encoder is skipping frames because of CPU overload. Read about General Performance and Encoding Issues.
3. Your GPU is maxed out and OBS can't render scenes fast enough. Running a game without vertical sync or a frame rate limiter will frequently cause performance issues with OBS because your GPU will be maxed out. OBS requires a little GPU to render your scene.

Enable Vsync or set a reasonable frame rate limit that your GPU can handle without hitting 100% usage.

If that's not enough you may also need to turn down some of the video quality options in the game. If you are experiencing issues in general while using OBS, your GPU may be overloaded for the settings you are trying to use.

Please check our guide for ideas why this may be happening, and steps you can take to correct it: GPU Overload Issues.

Thanks for the response.

Just an added note. I just tested the video from the Window camera and everything runs smoothly.

It seems to just be OBS...

P.S. I'm not using OBS for gaming
