Question / Help 4k dslr choppy in obs

I have a sony a7iii and i'm trying to record with it in OBS, it isn't necessarily lagging but its slower than what i'm doing and it looks weird. its running through a 1080p capture card so I tried to set the camera to 1080p but when I do that you can still see the on screen hud of the dslr on obs. in 4k, it doesnt show the hud so now im just really confused.
