Question / Help 4-Channel Audio SDI not supported

Hi,

I'm trying to have access to three microphone in a SDI signal, having them on Ch-1, Ch-2 and Ch-3.

  • I have a macbook pro with 10.8.5 (Moutain Lion)
  • Black magic UltraRecorder SDI
  • Sony camera
  • Sending the live feed to Facebook Live

With blackmagic capture software, I'm able to see that my 3 audio channel are moduling, but OBS Studio seems to only get the first two and I'm not able to have access to ch 3/4, even if they are enable in the options.

Is it normal, a software limitation?

This is expected, but not normal. The understand that I have is that the Blackmagic API only has options to request a specific number of channels, not which. So OBS just requests 2 (since it only works in stereo) assuming that the Blackmagic API would downmix to the requested channel count, but it doesn't. There are a few proposed fixes for this issue, and it should be fixed in the 19.0.0 release. More details here: https://obsproject.com/mantis/view.php?id=837
