Hey All, I have just signed up for the forum, but have used it for a while as reference, love it, and glad there is so much obs knowledge in here ....
a little background. I help manage multiple obs studio instances for our radio station on mixcloud so get to see a lot of common setup mistakes and try to help fix them. My own setup is working fine. I have 3 video capture sources into my studio w/o issue. So i try to use the same set techniques to help the other guys.
My troubleshooting steps are pretty basic. but my rule of thumb is that for windows 10 you should always check the cam app in widows to make sure you can see all the cams individually, this to me at least tells me that they are working ok in windows.
I then usually just get the driver keys and rename the device name in the reg so that when i use them in OBS they are distinct.
I have a new DJ that has two cams and I have verified that the camera app in windows can see both of them ok... (constantly, even after moving to different usb ports and multiple reboots).
I have added both the devices in OBS as separate scenes that contain only those capture devices. i.e. scene[CAM1] -> videocapturedev[cam1] and the same for the second (as this is how i setup my 3 devices w/o issue).
Here is where it gets strange.
His obs starts up and everything looks ok. but only one of the video capture devices will show the picture, the other is blank?
Now even more strange. If i then delete everything and start again, there is a 50/50 chance that the next time I start OBS still only one cam is working, but its the other cam?? almost like it flip flops ??? which is totally now what I would expect .. (one specific cam doesnt work and continues not to work).
I dont have the logs atm, but will remote connect and try to get them today.
I wasnt sure if anyone else had come across this and or had any suggestions on trouble shooting ..
Thanks in advance ..
