Hi,

Thank you for a great free software tool!
Just found it and I'm impressed.

I've got a problem unfortunately.
I got 2 cheap brandless webcams and when I add them seperately they both work fine.
However when I add the 2nd one (does not matter which one that is) It does not give me a video for that cam.
Tried it on a win10 pc and a win10 laptop (in combo with integrated laptop cam 1 extra does work 2nd still not)
Played with custom settings but no luck.

Any help is appreciated

Sounds like a problem with their driver/firmware not fully supporting multiple cameras at the same time.
Logitech has a similar problem using multiple c920s, except you just can't adjust the settings on those, only one will change. Possible the no-name driver may take that a step further and not provide video at all.

If you have them both plugged in, can you add one to Skype/Discord, make sure it's active (like in 'preview my video') then add the other one to a scene in OBS?
Do note that if you try to make two Video Capture Device sources pointing at the same hardware camera (like in a second scene), the second one won't work; you need to use 'Add Existing' instead. Is it possible that you're picking the same camera twice, if they're named the same thing in the dropdown selector?

They're not using a Logitech though.
I understand...I mostly was referring to your C920's

I also use the Microsoft Lifecam Studio cam using the UVC driver and I can use two C920's and the Lifecam and the same time and control each one individually with no problems..
Sorry for the confusion...

Good call:

Nope I cannot add one after I got one in Skype working and visa versa.

Is there any solution besides an other webcam? :)

it might be possible to determine if you have dual USB channels and use one for each camera. but as suggested this is probably a driver issue.

Personally I have used up to six Logitech C920 without issue on the same PC.,

I use this card with 4 dedicated USB ports...

that card has two channels. I have spoken to the support of startech before, the two one the left and two on the right are on different channels. if that separation does not correct the issue then its a driver issue. the only thing to do is get a different camera.

Nope. It's a hardware/firmware/driver issue. You could try contacting the manufacturer to see if they have updated firmware to fix it, if you can find them and they aren't a fly-by-night that's already out of business after selling off a load of cheap tat. Swapping to another USB Host Controller isn't going to help... the attachment chain isn't going to be a problem, and it's not a bandwidth issue (which is the main reason to move to a different UHCI). Same with adding an expansion USB card. Won't address the underlying issue, just by changing the address.

Appreciated! I don't use the c920 any more (moved to a DSLR and cap card instead) but still good info for those who do. I know that you used to be able to control the c920 via UVC, but there were some functions that you HAD to use the Logitech Capture software to access and get them to 'stick'. And the LC software was the one that could only talk to one at a time, and you could only have one plugged in to make sure you got the right one.

You are not correct...They make TWO cards like that..If you read the description it clearly says 4 dedicated channels..

Not sure if this is a driver issue. I have the same issue with 2 USB HDMI capture devices from the same manufacturer. OBS Studio will only show 1 at a time. Tested on a desktop configuration and a laptop. Same problem. I tried Steamlabs OBS and both sources can be used. I imported my settings from OBS Studio into Steamlabs OBS. Until this is resolved in OBS Studio, it is unusable for me.

I was running into the same issue with two different cam sources on the same scene. One would vanish when I would fix the other. To fix this, I switched one cam to the back USB port on my PC. Changed the settings for both cams to a different cam, then back to the correct source. BAM! Fixed *for me

I currently have a similar problem using 2 unbranded chinese usb cams and the integrated webcam on an old Dell studio laptop. The USB cams both show in device manager as USB CAM and in settings devices (windows 10) as USB PHY 2.0 after much playing about with settings and changing the Friendly Name in the registry from USB CAMERA to USB CAMERA number 1, on one of the cameras I created 3 scenes , each using one of the cameras I can now see all 3 cams but can not change between the scenes using the USB CAMS I can change between either USB CAM and the built in laptop cam and change between that cam and either of the USB CAMS . But the cams do all show, or at least they were showing when I last tried it.

I figured, I'd post here to s ame some the headache that I have been have. - I use obs, but I also built my own javascript web streaming app.

There is bad news and good news. A long post ahead but worth the read.

The bad news: The issue is not the software at all. It's 100% hardware. On my home computer, I able to to get 2 all webcams to work, but not at the same time. I have a logitec, and 2 off brand identical cameras. I can getthe Logitec to play along side one of the other webcams. But not both of the identical webcams at the same time. The bad news is that it's firmware or the driver, and you can't change that without harming the firmware. I've tried javascript, obs, java, and many other webcam apps. The exact same result. it is 100% hardware.

The good news: After trying everything under the sun on my home computer. (Windows 10 Dell desktop). I finally gave up, and tried it on my laptop (Windows 10 dell laptop). The first time I tried it. I worked like a charm. All 4 cameras worked at the same time. And my new javacript works beautifully, as well as obs. The ligitiech, the 2 identical off brand cams, as well as the built in web cam. All working at the same time on my laptop.

The problem: The identical Webcams have the same hardware id/ device id so the computer thinks it's one camera and won't play them both at the same time. I could not get this to work on a Windows 10 Dell laptop with USB2.0 ports mostly, and a couple of USB3.0 ports. Even with a USB3.0 hub.

Solution: You may not want to hear this. But you'll need a new computer. Or at the least maybe a new USB3.0 card in your computer. This is the only different thing I can see between the laptop and desktop as far as USB ports. The laptop is 100% USB3.0 ports. The Dell computer was mixed. I wish I could tell you exactly what the issue is. But not 100% sure. I'm leaning toward the USB ports. I'm a software expert, so hopefully some hardware expert can come in and expound on exactly what may be different between my desktop and my laptop. But the solution is to try it on another computer. No issues at all getting multiple webcams, even if they're identical, to work on my laptop. Also note that my laptop has 32gbs of ram, while my desktop has 16gbs of ram and is a lot older than my laptop.

I just had to share after finding out it worked on my laptop... Good luck.

I got the problem, when I updated my elder PC to windows 11. Seems like the issue is hidden inside the outdated drivers, so it might be that you don't have to change the PC.

I don't have the solution yet, but I will inform you if any will come up.

P.s. custom drivers might rule the world
