Hi,
Thank you for a great free software tool!
Just found it and I'm impressed.
I've got a problem unfortunately.
I got 2 cheap brandless webcams and when I add them seperately they both work fine.
However when I add the 2nd one (does not matter which one that is) It does not give me a video for that cam.
Tried it on a win10 pc and a win10 laptop (in combo with integrated laptop cam 1 extra does work 2nd still not)
Played with custom settings but no luck.
Any help is appreciated
Jerry
I figured, I'd post here to s ame some the headache that I have been have. - I use obs, but I also built my own javascript web streaming app.
There is bad news and good news. A long post ahead but worth the read.
The bad news: The issue is not the software at all. It's 100% hardware. On my home computer, I able to to get 2 all webcams to work, but not at the same time. I have a logitec, and 2 off brand identical cameras. I can getthe Logitec to play along side one of the other webcams. But not both of the identical webcams at the same time. The bad news is that it's firmware or the driver, and you can't change that without harming the firmware. I've tried javascript, obs, java, and many other webcam apps. The exact same result. it is 100% hardware.
The good news: After trying everything under the sun on my home computer. (Windows 10 Dell desktop). I finally gave up, and tried it on my laptop (Windows 10 dell laptop). The first time I tried it. I worked like a charm. All 4 cameras worked at the same time. And my new javacript works beautifully, as well as obs. The ligitiech, the 2 identical off brand cams, as well as the built in web cam. All working at the same time on my laptop.
The problem: The identical Webcams have the same hardware id/ device id so the computer thinks it's one camera and won't play them both at the same time. I could not get this to work on a Windows 10 Dell laptop with USB2.0 ports mostly, and a couple of USB3.0 ports. Even with a USB3.0 hub.
Solution: You may not want to hear this. But you'll need a new computer. Or at the least maybe a new USB3.0 card in your computer. This is the only different thing I can see between the laptop and desktop as far as USB ports. The laptop is 100% USB3.0 ports. The Dell computer was mixed. I wish I could tell you exactly what the issue is. But not 100% sure. I'm leaning toward the USB ports. I'm a software expert, so hopefully some hardware expert can come in and expound on exactly what may be different between my desktop and my laptop. But the solution is to try it on another computer. No issues at all getting multiple webcams, even if they're identical, to work on my laptop. Also note that my laptop has 32gbs of ram, while my desktop has 16gbs of ram and is a lot older than my laptop.
I just had to share after finding out it worked on my laptop... Good luck.
