im recording @ 1080 like my monitor. Im not streaming, uploadin to youtube edited content.
D
X264 superfast

My game runs at capped 100-101 fps

Even if i increase my bitrate to 12000 or crf super low i can still record smooth @ 30 or 60fps. Using almost no cpu. ~35% @ 30fps and ~48% @ 60fps. My laptop is even in save battery mode.

Why do i get laggy recordings if i lower to 25fps? Even if i lower bitrate down to 2500 it still lags. If i increase cpu to very fast or fast, my cpu usage skyrockets but 25fps still lags. Anything i do 30/60 records smooth whereas 24/25 lags.

By lags i mean choppy recording, jumping, freezing. I never notice anything ingame and i dont have cpu spikes.

Can some help me please? Im a bit desperate i would pretty much like to record @ 25 fps

Ive tried tons of crf/bitrate/cpu speed combos and always the same. 30/60 fps is smooth 25is its laggy, no matter if cpu is almost doing no work or its burning

Is there any reason for this?

My monitor runs @ 60mhz but if i run it @. 50mhz (25x2) i get the same blody result; 30/60fps = good > 25fps = randoms lags / freezes / jumps

Because mouse cursor seems to moves faster at 25fps which is a cool effect in the game i record. But thats not the point ^^

The point is why lower fps brings lag in. And again im not talikng about less movement fluidity which is expected and what id like. Im talkin about choppy recordings that seem to be under 10fps at moments.

ive tried everything, every possible iteration

x264 with ultrafast fast slow, 2000bitrate 10000bitrate 20000bitrate, crf1 crf30 crf50

NVENC low high medium bluray quality

EVERYTIME 25fps is laggy whereas 30fps is not. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE FFS.

tried also 24 / 26 / 27 fps and samething > laggy. 30/60 not

once in while a 25fps recording test records smooth for a few seconds. That's how i know the way it should look but doesn't last much at all. Just managed to record once a 10seconds smooth clip @ 25fps. but when i tried to record again with same settings (i thought i found the miracoulous setting) it was laggy again.

ive wasted enough time already.

Could please someone tell me if this is a bug? is this only happening to me? does it make sense at all? can it be fixed? or should i just give up trying to record on anything else than 30/60 fps.

Ive spent hours an hours trying to get it right but wont work. Why can people record @ 25fps with this program but i can't ??

Could anyone please tell me if it's just me, at least? i'd very much appreciate it

thanks

I got back to this again after a while.

What i found out is that if my screen is @ 60hz 30/60fps records smooth. 25fps doesnt

If i change my screen to 50hz then 25fps records as it should.

Problem is @ 50hz mouse feels funny... :-/

But i dont get why this happens? Is OBS recording from my screen instead of graphics card or wat? Cuz the game runs at a stable 100fps capped as smooth as it gets

It has to do with how the in between frames behave when recording and playing back at a framerate that doesn't go evenly into the refresh rate. You won't be able to get away from it.

You could try 75hz which is a multiple of of 25 so it should record as it should and your mouse should be ok as well. If not then your stuck with 30fps.

thats not true
because if i record @ 25fps with my screen @ 50hz and i watch later @ 60hz it plays perfectly fine. The video creates the lag while recording, NOT while i play it back.

Unfortunately i cant set 75hz on my laptop, only 60/50 :--(
