Hello,

The last few days im looking all over the web to find a answer to my question. Untill now I have not found it.

The situation is like this;
Im using a 2560x1080 monitor on my game pc.
My stream PC has an Avermedia live gamer extreme. When I connect it and duplicate my 2560x1080 monitor it downscales to 1920x1080.
What I would like to have is that on my game pc I keep 2560x1080 and that the screen is only downscaled for my stream.I understand that 1920x1080 is not possible because my game pc is 21:9 and 1920x1080 is 16:9. It should be possible because I follow.some big streamers on twitch who are using 21:9 monitors and these streams are looking great.

Thanks for the help.

Regards

I think that this is caused by the software you are using to clone and nothing to do with OBS right? If you are running an Nvidia card then the Nvidia software always uses the lowest common resolution, in your case 1080p. If I take my 1440p monitor and clone it with a port that is connected to my Elgato my 1440p monitor gets a 1080p signal.

So I don't think you can fix this, it's one of the reasons why I've stuck with a 1080p gaming monitor :-( If you need more help I would try posting on Nvidia or AMD forums whichever is appropriate :-)

One thing you can try to do is get an HDMI splitter. HDMI from computer to the splitter, 1 from the splitter to the Elgato and the other to your monitor. They may or may not show up as two seperate monitors in your Display Options. The HDMI going to the Elgato can downscale to 1080 while your monitor can stay at 1440p. Connecting this way you dont have to use the Elgato as a pass through so you wouldnt need another HDMI cord. Also, if you have more than one display port on your graphics card (which im sure you do) use 1 cable to your monitor and the other to the Elgato. Not sure if this will help but good luck.

As long as you try to clone you will be limited to the highest resolution the "lower" device can use, 1080p in most cases for capture cards. I only see two ways the other streamers might be using:
  1. Run OBS on the same PC instead of using a capture card and downscale with OBS.
  2. Use OBS to capture your desktop, downscale it and output it with the projector to your Capture Card. (Cannot recommend this, you will probably have tearing/lags)

Ok thanks all for the info. I tried Jack0r advise and it works but still need to test lag/tearing etc. After some more research and contacting a famous streamer I got the advise that the best solution is a 4k capture card.
