Question / Help 2018 - Recommended bitrate now?

Hi everyone

I'm looking to start streaming again but it's been a long time now and I'm wondering what are the new recommended bitrate in 2018? In the past everyone recommended 720p, 30fps and 2000kbps. But after doing a bit of research, I have seen some threads recommending 720p, 30fps and 3000kbps.

Is this right? I would totally love to do 3000kbps instead of 2000kbps. What are your opinions on the topic?
Thank you!

Nothing has really changed. The reason people recommend 2kbps is because when you stream on Twitch, your viewers can't choose what quality to watch at until you're partnered. Because of this, you want to stream at a relatively low bitrate so you can maximize your viewership. There are plenty of people who would come into your stream with poor internet speeds, and those people would have to deal with buffering and lag if you streamed at a high bitrate.

If you want to do 3kbps instead of 2, that's totally fine. It's going to be higher quality, but you could potentially lose out on some viewership if you aren't partnered.
