2013 Macbook Pro

Hello all:
* I am interested in dedicating my semi-retired 2013 Macbook Pro - ( Big Sur - v 11.7.10 2.6GHz Quad-Core - Intel Core i7 - 16GB RAM 1600 MHz DDR3 - 1TB SSD storage)
* Bought a Firewire cable and a Firewire to USBc dongle
* I use SDI out of camera to a BlackMagic UltraStudio Recorder 3G
I am not seeing the camera sdi signal or the Device in the properties window
.......I can try the hdmi camera output into the hdmi input on the BlackMagic UltraStudio Recorder 3G, but i dont think that is the issue........when i use this set-up via a USBc connection into my new Mac everything works.........
any suggestions?

How do you connect UltraStudio Recorder 3G to your old laptop? And is the UltraStudio Recorder 3G the old model with Thunderbolt 2 -connector or the new one with Thunderbolt 3 -connector (that looks like USB-C)?
