Question / Help 2 PC Streaming without Capture Card

Hi All,

Currently I thinking about using a 2 PC Setup to stream to twitch but I have the issue that I have a 144hz Display which is attached via DVI and I want to keep playing on 144hz. So using a HDMI Capture Card is not an option because then I would have to go back to 60hz. I have spare parts from my old PC and I'm thinking about using them for Streaming:

Potential Streaming PC Specs:
CPU: I5 6600k
RAM: some 8 GB
GPU: 1060 GTX

Gaming PC Specs:
CPU i7 7700k @4,5Ghz
GPU: 1070ti
RAM: 16GB

The missing parts I would buy.
So I read about streaming with 2 PCs without a Capture Card (https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/guide-two-pc-configuration-without-capturecard.6757/) and I have some questions.

1) Will my "old" CPU manage it? I'm not sure if I completly understood what the second PC is doing. The Gaming PC streams via QuickSync to the Streaming PC. I set everything (Overlays etc) within OBS on the Gaming PC right? The Streaming PC is then doing stuff and streams to twitch/youtube whatever. Is there a high CPU Usage involved, can my 6600k handle it? Do I need for this approach a large HDD to "store" the stream from my Gaming PC?

2) The load on my Gaming PC will be much lower than now while I play and stream from the same PC?

3) Will the stream quality be good? I would like to stream with 720p@60FPS or even at 1080p@60FPS, this depends how I set up my Quick Sync on my Gaming PC, right?

4) Anybody here who streams with this setup and I can have a look at the Quality?

If I forgot to mention anything please just ask, I'm fairly new to streaming and that stuff.

Thank you in advance :)

I was in a similar situation, and what ended up working for me is I put my old GPU (660GTX) in the second slot in the same computer. I play games using my 1060 GTX and I encode the stream using nvenc on the 660, that way my CPU and main GPU aren't taxed very much.

Thank you for the answer. Your quality with nvenc is at the same bitrate worse then the x264 right?
Unfortunately I dont have that much room in my case to throw a second gfx card in :(

Another question regarding this topic :)

Currently I'm testing Nvenc encoding with 3.000 bitrate. The quality is pretty ok. Would I benefit with the 2 PC setup quality wise when I use Quicksync with lets say 30.000 bitrate and use x264 (3.000 bit rate) encoding on my second PC?
