1 why does the obs go to settings when the space is pressed for starting a recording and not to stop the recording
2 why does the obs record 2 of the same recordings (screen-shot will be provided in the next thread since there will be no screen recording provided in this thread)

2) Unlikely the files are full copies. One can be in ".mkv" format other in ".mp4". You can find this info in the Properties of the files in the File Explorer of the Windows. OBS may save files to MKV media container first, then (when user hits "Stop Recording" button) the file can be auto-remultiplexed into MP4 media container - this all depends on the Output and Advanced settings of OBS.

1) The "Space bar" button in Windows triggers an action over the last focused UI element (it was always like this). If focus later will be moved to other element then different action may trigger (or nothing happens - it is all depending on where focus is). When you setting up OBS for Hotkeys you likely have pressed the "Settings" UI button, so last time focus of the Windows OS was on this element. Then when the settings window was closed and Space bar was pressed - OBS triggered assigned hotkey action (in your case the Start Recording) and Widows processed general command "Space key pressed" over the focused button (last button in your case was the "Settings" as you remember).
Also, in Windows the focus for buttons changing with the Tab press. You may Alt-Tab few times, so the focus will be shifted to next elements (for example the Settings button are in two Tabs from the Recording Start button). So, be careful with OBS settings and actions. Something similar happened to other users before: https://obsproject.com/forum/thread...he-setting-for-that-not-being-enabled.186611/
I think, you can set different hotkey (not the Space bar key) to start/stop recording with OBS (set both actions, two hotkeys, even if they are the same keys). I do not recommend Space bar as a hotkey.
