Hello everyone, I did a quick search on google to find an answer but it don’t look like it has been asked before. I had purchased an Nvidia GT 1030 in hopes of doing streaming and recording. Well I guess I didn’t do enough research and found that this graphics card cannot handle game play and encoding. Tried duel pc setup. Didn’t work. So now I have been looking at getting a GTX series graphics card for just encoding and still use my GT 1030 as my main graphics card due to it not having issues playing any of the games I have. Is this plausible? Thanks for all your help.

That actually results in worse performance, it's best to game and encode on the same GPU.

If you are on a smaller budget, get a gtx 1050 and use this as only card in your PC for both gaming and encoding. The GTX cards provide the nvenc hardware encoder, which does neither require cpu resources nor a large amount of GPU resources, since it is a dedicated circuit on the GPU. Remove the GT 1030. A second GPU card worsens performance for streaming or recording, if it is used together with another card. It's not sufficient to just not use a second card, it must be physically removed from the PC.

Thank you for the quick reply’s. I was actually looking at the 1050’s but was not for sure if that would be sufficient enough. I have been wanting to record to YouTube “The Forest” gameplays but was not for sure what gpu I needed.

If you can afford the price bumb, the 1660ti is in a really good position right now. It will give you an in-game buff AND an encoding buff. It is a price hike from a 1050 though, if price is sensitive it may not be for you.
