Totally new to all of this. Purchased a vhs to dvd capture card (usb) and was given both PotPlayer and OBS links to download. Everything worked fine for a day. Now, neither one will record the audio. When I look in audio sources I see all my devices except for USB Audio which is what I'm supposed to select. Both USB Audio and USB Video show in my device manager and the video capture is fine. It's just the audio. No "USB audio" to choose from and the devices that do show (mostly my Plantronics stuff) don't work. I have uninstalled / reinstalled both applications mentioned to no avail.

This was all working yesterday. Right now I have the capture hooked up to my old Mac and it's working but I'd rather not rely on it. This was all working yesterday just fine, grrr! Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi frankblack007 have a look at the output from the Log Analyser:

Address these issues and then post another log file.

Unfortunately, USB video captures are one of several things that seem to have two distinct tiers:
  • Good and expensive for about $80 to $120 for a single input, from a name brand that actually cares about customer loyalty and thus has the accountability that goes along with that.
  • Cheap garbage for about $20 or so, from a "face-on-keyboard" brand that cares about nothing except volume of sales. So their ads and product listings are blatantly deceptive once you start digging into what you actually got, and their designs and quality control are both so bad that it's a wonder anything works at all.
What do you actually have?

(Note: Those prices are for HDMI -> USB captures. Composite -> USB is probably cheaper, but still seems to have those distinct tiers.)
