1440p rescaled to 1080p blurry [WoW]

Hello everyone.

I just want to stream occasionnally World Of Warcraft for friends or guildies and I'm trying to make the stream less blurry but can't find a solution (if there is any for my case).

I'm streaming on the same computer as I play (no 2 PC setup), here is my config :

i5 8600k OC at 4.8ghz
RTX 3080
16GO 3200mhz Ram

Here you will find my OBS settings (spoiler : 8000 bitrate), speedtest and 2 screenshots of WoW in normal mode and theater mode (even If I know there is compression for screenshots) :

Basically, I'm playing WoW in 1440p on a 1440p monitor and streaming on a 1080p output.

The overall stream is a bit blurry, we can see at icones in center, npc/players, but also on the window bottom right "Dégats infligés" where there are names and numbers.
This window is barely readable.

I've tried rescaling to 720p but it's worse (obvious anyway).

If anyone could help me it would be nice :D

You can add me on discord Haxium#5062 or reply here

You should use the OBS Log Analyzer but here's a cheap copy of the output..

OBS Log Analyzer

This analyzer will review an OBS log file for common issues and problems and provide suggestions for how to solve them.
URLFile Upload
In OBS select Help > Log Files > Upload last Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

Warning Wrong YUV Color Range
Having the YUV Color range set to "Full" will cause playback issues in certain browsers and on various video platforms. Shadows, highlights and color will look off. In OBS, go to "Settings -> Advanced" and set "YUV Color Range" back to "Partial".
Warning Capture Interference
Display and Game Capture Sources interfere with each other. Never put them in the same scene.
Info Windows 10 21H1 (OK)
You are running Windows 10 21H1, which will be supported by Microsoft until December 2022.
Info 0.1% Rendering Lag
Your GPU is maxed out and OBS can't render scenes fast enough. Running a game without vertical sync or a frame rate limiter will frequently cause performance issues with OBS because your GPU will be maxed out. OBS requires a little GPU to render your scene.

Enable Vsync or set a reasonable frame rate limit that your GPU can handle without hitting 100% usage.

If that's not enough you may also need to turn down some of the video quality options in the game. If you are experiencing issues in general while using OBS, your GPU may be overloaded for the settings you are trying to use.

Please check our guide for ideas why this may be happening, and steps you can take to correct it: GPU Overload Issues.
Info 0.1% GPU Encoder Overload
The encoder is skipping frames because of GPU overload. Read about troubleshooting tips in our GPU Overload Guide.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

However, I don't think my GPU is any maxed out, it doesn't even go above 70% (during streaming) :

At the end is when I stop the stream that usage drop down to around 20-25% (while I'm in the game yes).
This screenshot is by streaming at 1440p output.
When I set 1080p output the usage is around 50%

I'll just clarify. Is this a checkbox you have here?

Yes, you should not use the full color range. There is a great article on this topic.

Hi !

Yes this is a checkbox, I didn't tried this since I've setup rescaling in video tab.

Alright I'll change color range and try

Everything is correct. All scaling manipulations should be done in the Video section. Otherwise, the downscale filter will not work.

In your case, you should not use 720p resolution and anything below 1080p. The lower the resolution, the better the quality due to saving bitrate, but the worse the picture clarity.

Make sure your resolution is set correctly in the NVIDIA control panel and in the game and it doesn't change. Primary monitor that captures OBS 2560x1440. Otherwise, OBS has to stretch the image to 2K and then scale it back down to FHD again.

Try removing the game/screen capture and re-adding them.

You can set the profile to high, this will allow the encoder to use more advanced algorithms for compression. Not related to the main issue.
