144 FPS In-Game and Recording in 60FPS

I read a post with a reply telling the original poster that the video playback will have stutter when trying to record in 60fps with 144fps in-game because 144 doesn't divide into 60. Is this true? I am on a 144hz monitor and I do see stutter in my video playbacks. But if it is true, to get smooth video quality will I need to upgrade my monitor to 240hz to still have good gameplay and recording quality as well?

Yes.
As TryHD said, 120 fps would be fine. With 120 fps, OBS will drop every other frame to get 60, and the video will be smooth. But with 144 fps, OBS needs to drop every other frame and additionally 24 frames somewhere in between, so sometimes it needs to drop 1 frame, and sometimes it needs to drop 2 frames to reduce 144 to 60. This uneven dropping results in the video being not completely smooth.

You don't need to get a 240 Hz monitor - just reduce the monitor fps from 144 to 120 in the corresponding game or Windows video settings to get smooth recordings.

Well, I know I wouldn't need to get a 240hz montior, but I really dislike the lowering the frames, especially for the game I am looking to record. :/

Thank you for the help though, this may have been my issue I have been facing for so long now!
