on the media foundation of nvidia i had a 50 fps record

1000 bitrate with a custom buffer of 0
VBR
and a Min and Max QP of 23

now i don't know what settings to use.

i'm uploading edited video to youtube...so does that mean presets like "low latency" shouldn't concern me?
what's the difference between a high profile and a high444p profile?
WTF does level mean?
what is two pass encoding and when and when should i not use it?
WTF does GPU mean?
why does the the question mark help symbol at the top right do nothing!

Let's experiment with settings - it's easy!
Look, you are not alone: Nvenc Level and GPU?
not as easy as it sounds. some settings have subtle effects, i dunno if that's the case here but i tick "two pass" off and i'm not really sure if anything changed. that doesn't mean "it doesn't matter then" because i want to optimize

listen your right i'm not alone, but the point is the developer needs to get the documentation up to speed. i was planning on doing some recording today. i did do it, but my previous setup was optimized to give the quality i want at the file size i want. if i didn't want to record Today i could dick around all day with those settings.

however i honestly shouldn't have to. documentation should be available to take the guess work out of it. sure it's all free, so maybe they (is it they? or just 1? anyway) they know this stuff better than i do, or at least i would hope so since their the ones working on it. if they sat down and worked out an organized document then half the questions i've asked on this forum so far would have never been asked.

i just don't see how anyone can justify the lack of documentation

If you're just recording, I'd recommend just using the pre-configured recording settings in simple output mode. It automatically configures NVENC to record for you at the ideal settings based upon the quality you wish to obtain. Set it to "High Quality", then set the encoder below that to "Hardware (NVENC)".

As for the settings, they're mostly self-explanatory. There aren't many settings compared to most encoders. Generally the biggest quality factor will be the bitrate. The rest of the parameters can be safely left at default.

The first thought I've had - we need to restrict access to sophisticated software. LOL. Why anyone must push you in? Learn by yourself.
Anyway, "two pass" - does it sounds like it was designed for real time processing? I think - No. So, you made right decision.

Why documentation too late? Never pay for future.

All documents will be available when its done. And how said one famous youtuber: bye-bye.

jim they aren't self explanatory.

as someone who is new to this stuff, i'm here to tell you they are not. if you really think that, then theirs no point in this thread. you'll just write off anyone who doesn't know this stuff like you do. good bye
