Question / Help 1080p 60fps Help

Hi, I am having trouble getting my rig to stream or even record 1080p 60fps, even though it should be able to. My system info is attached in the picture, and the GPU is a GTX 970.

I really don't know what I would need to upgrade to be able to get the full 1080 60. It has no problem in the preview window, even when I'm recording/streaming, but the output looks like shit. Is there a compatibility issue with Windows 10 that could be causing this? I really don't know and it's bugging me.

If anyone with some better knowledge would be able to help me that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hi Mitchell, I'm not too experienced at looking at the logs but I think the attached log just shows you streaming. From what I can tell you are streaming 1080p 60fps with a bitrate of 3000 kbps. This will lead to a pretty rough output to Twitch because the bitrate isn't high enough for 1080p 60fps. Unless you are partnered you are better streaming to Twitch at 720p 2000 kbps as this will give a good stream quality and be watchable by most potential viewers.

As for recording, if you are recording at 3000 kbps you'll get a very poor quality output. I tend to record at 25000 kbps for a fairly decent 1080p 60 fps output.

Just for info the log section for recording looks a bit like this:

[x264 encoder: 'recording_h264'] settings:
18:45:43: bitrate: 25000
18:45:43: buffer size: 25000
18:45:43: fps_num: 60
18:45:43: fps_den: 1
18:45:43: width: 1920
18:45:43: height: 1080
18:45:43: keyint: 250
18:45:43: cbr: on

This is the bit I can't see in your log.

In summary Stream at 720p (unless you are partnered) 2000 kbps and ratchet up your bitrate for recording 1080p 60fps to as high as your machine can manage :-)

Nope, you're pretty spot on. The highest you should go, if unpartnered, is 720/60 at like 2000-2500 max. Even when partnered, Twitch says to use 3500 max, which isn't enough to stream 1080/60.

Streaming at 1080p just isn't even worth it at this point, as 720/60 will look better than 1080/30 9/10 times. As far as recording though, go as high as your CPU can handle without it dropping frames. 10k+ bitrate (I found 20k to be damn near as if I was watching the game itself) is around where you'd want for recording.

OK thanks. Sounds like it just may be better to lower the CPU preset to faster or fast and just stream at 720p 60fps instead. Thanks for the help guys.
