Question / Help 100% CPU LAG WHEN I START OBS NOT WHEN STREAMING/REC

i don't know whats going on with my pc but every time i start obs it ends up lagging immediately im also having the same problem on streamlabs obs so im not really sure whats actually going on

You might need to turn down your CPU usage. Your CPU might not be strong enough to handle the OBS Settings. The different CPU settings determine how the video output looks, so it does not put so much strain on your computer. Either that your your CPU is too weak to handle OBS, but I honestly doubt it is.

its most likely the windows update ive ran obs on this computer before but ever since the update i launch without streaming it immediately lags as i open it

Can confirm this is most probably due to the windows 10 April 2018 update. I have the exact same CPU lag happening now as the OP.

Usually run Rocket League at over 200 fps (steam fps counter) even with OBS running. After win10 update just opening OBS causes Rocket League to drop to 30 FPS and lag like a Biatch. My setup has work flawlessly for months and the only change has been the Win10 April update.

OBS ver: 21.1.2
Ryzen 7 @ 4.0Ghz
32GB DDR4 3200
Aorus 1080Ti 11GB
Streaming via Second PC using NDI plugin.

Apparently the full fix will be in the next version of OBS
