Let me begin with clarifying that this is not a software solution. Since true hardware accelerated sound is directly outputted through analog audio outputs, it cannot be captured by the windows audio stack.
We will be using 2 sound cards, one is the card with Hardware acceleration(A), and one is the dumb pass-through card(B). In this example these are:
Card A: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD
Card B: Realtek onboard audio (MSI B550 Tomahawk)
Steps required:
Wiring:
And you are done. Any audio fed to Card A with EAX/OpenAL should be playing on your monitor device as well as being captured by OBS.
I registered just to post this, so, any feedback is welcome.

- Using a RCA to 3,5mm cable, connect Card A audio out to Card B line-in port
- Connect your monitor device(headphones, speakers) to Card B output
- Set main output device as Card A
- Make sure Card B line-in is not muted
- Add Audio Input Capture
- Set device to Card B line-in
