Question / Help Massive distortion in audio capture

Hi,

I'm using the Linux version from the PPA and followed the instructions from the pinned topic. The programm works fine, but everytime when I stream or record, the sound has massive distortion.

Here is a short video which shows what I mean: http://youtu.be/t5AnFFSd_xs
Here is the log file from that record: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/a49347e2dc4172cc45d2

I've also tried to use the onboard soundcard, but it's always the same.

My system specs:
OS: Linux Mint 17 x64
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 660 (Nvidia propritary driver 340.24)
Sound: Creative FFi XtremeGamer

Is there any bugfix or workaround for this?

I think it might be related to the surround sound, as a workaround you could set your soundcard to stereo and logout/login. Thank you for reporting this, i will try to replicate and fix this issue.

Yes, this works. What I've had to do, was to comment out "default-sample-channels" in the /etc/pulse/daemon.conf, because I had that set to 6 channels. After that change the output channls to Stereo. Only to change to 2 channels wasn't enough.

Thanks for your suggestion!
