I downloaded OBS this evening, since I'd like an alternative to Xsplit. I've only used Xsplit a handful of times, but I like to think I'm reasonably competent with this type of software.
I understand the basics of adding a scene, naming it and then adding the desired sources. I run into problems any time I try to preview the stream. Regardless of my selected sources, the "Edit Scene" button is always greyed out. I click "Add Software Capture" and set up the window I want to record. After I've set this up, the scene window stays blank. This happens with every type of source I add to the scene. I click "Preview Stream" or "Start Streaming", I get an error message and the program exits. I've changed every setting available and still I haven't gotten anywhere. Obviously, this makes it unusable. I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks.
This is an example of one of my log files, as they're all identical:
